WordCamp Asia 2020, the first big regional WordCamp in Asia, has sadly been canceled due to the recent Corona virus concerns. This is an open letter to the organizers, volunteers and attendees of WordCamp Asia from the WordPress Greek Community.

We can understand how difficult it must have been to reach the hard decision of WordCamp Asia cancellation. Given the sensitive circumstances that you are facing, we would like to express our deepest feelings of support to the WordCamp Asia organizers and we hope only for the best solving the issues emerging after this turnover.

For the greater good and for safety reasons even the most uncomfortable decisions are sometimes the wise choice to make. We want to express to you our solidarity so that you know that -in your disappointment- you are not alone. We understand how difficult it is to get a huge regional WordCamp off the ground, how much effort and energy it needs.

Each of us feels a small part of the sadness that you must feel, because we can imagine what it means to lose all the work that you have done for making a WordCamp. We express our deepest feelings of care. And when your event does happen next year, we will know that you have fought twice as hard as the rest of us and we will be supporting you once again.
